Did GM ever make a body mounted swing away tire carrier like was on Bronco?
or does anyone sell them?

I am pretty sure that they did make one.
My dad has an 83 K5 that is stock and it has a swing away tire carrier mounted to the passenger side of the body.

They were not a factory item per se, but were installed by dealers.

A company called Valley Industries used to make them; pretty sure that they are not currently available new. However, lots of them show up used, on Ebay and Craigslist.

Note that a stock-sized tire is prolly doable, but these carriers are famous for tearing sheetmetal on anything larger than stock ... i.e a 31x10.50 will be pushing it, and a 33x12.50 *will* eventually rip your tailgate up. Ask me how I know :|

if you want one let me know, email me [email protected]

Like everyone said, I personally dont like em- the PO had it on, while it iddnt give me any problems, it is mounted to your sheet metal.
