Anybody know what the bolt size is on the front tow hooks of a '89 K5?

Mine had that winch bumper on there that I traded a guy for a stock bumper and some other stuff. Only problem was the stock bumper came off a truck with no hooks so it's got short little bolts. I have some 1/2" Grade 8's sitting around but oy, they seem a bit loose in the holes in the hooks.

might be 9/16" then. Just take the tow hook with you into the hardware store when buying bolts.

Paint was drying this morning, they're hanging in the garage.

Anybody know off hand?

I just removed my factory tow hooks on my 89 blazer and they are 1/2" bolts. The holes in the frame are 5/8" holes though.

my early tow hooks came with 5/8" bolts.

I know the 73-80 are a totally different animal than the 81-up ... I'd betcha your first-gen stuff is like the 73-80.

Doesn't look so huge (that's a 31" x 10.5") but the round part is maybe 1" in diameter and the square part a bit bigger, so they're seriously fricken huge in comparison to the newer style.

I'm pretty sure when I took mine off they weren't real tight in the hole

You'd think they'd want it to be a tight fit to prevent shocks when you jerked on them...guess not.

I put my longer 1/2" Grade 8 bolts in with the hooks. Yes, definitely a smaller bolt than the hole. If I have some extra cash I might pick up some bigger bolts and replace the 1/2" bolts.

I just removed a set from a stock 91 K5 Blazer, bolts are 1/2-13 & they have a tight fit in the tow hook mounting holes
