Lincoln or Kiwi?
D'oh. Should have put Leather Luster in there for you cheaters
Either, just depends on what my mood is. I like the deep, soft shine of the Lincoln and I also like the sharp, "hey look at me" hardness of the Kiwi shine.
I always use Kiwi. Polish my boots to a moderate shine, because I always tear them up at work. But if I need to go talk to "the man" I can just spend about 5 minutes with a brush, cloth, and spit-shine them up.
Just not worth it to have the effort into a 'spit-shine' when I scuff the **** outta my boots within an hour.
i use what ever is free and in the shop
I'm not saying Lincoln isn't any good. I've just never used it. They always had Kiwi in the BX/PX, and that's also what my dad always used. Hell, he still has his low quarters he got issued in 1959 & he still polishes the several times a years w/ Kiwi.
used motor oil.
Im cheap but it makes em dark and shiny. prolly not good for em though, and it kinda stinks for those that dont like the smell.
KIWI.i used it on my dads boots since 1975. well, until i done growed up.
KIWI Parade Shine
I've always had the best luck on our issued boots with Kiwi. These last couple of years all I use is Kiwi parade gloss. I'm just like you, I don't spend a lot of time on them b/c I know that 20 min. after I get to work they might be totally ****ed up.
You have to go with Kiwi. Granted, it only lasts about 10min. longer than lincoln, but it gives a nice shine.
I'm a dip****, and can't work a poll. I accidentally pushed Lincoln, but meant Kiwi. For the whole one times I've polished boots...
Back in the day, mid 80's I would always spit shine with kiwi, set the polish on fire and let the flaming polish fall onto the boots, then polish the **** out of em. Then break out the Mop and glow and put a nice shiney coat of that on them. shined so much that I always got week end passes, and thats the shtuff!
Kiwi Parade Gloss. IMO, regular Kiwi doesn't have the same "depth" that the Parade Gloss seems to have.
I used Lincoln a few times and wasn't really impressed. Coulda been my technique, I dunno.
Gave a bottle of Leather Luster away once, after seeing the trainwreck it made of a roomate's boots.
Never had any desire to try Mop 'n Glo, either. Same roomate above used it religiously for a while, until it built-up so heavily on his boots that he couldn't even lace 'em up without it cracking off. He spent a lot more time cleaning that s**t off his boots than I ever spent with the buffing brush and cloth.
Only type of boots I've seen look good with leather luster or mop n glo is the Corcoran Marauder. Regular boots and steel toes with leather sides just look nasty with that crap cracking all over.
What is this boot polish you speak of?
Lincoln dries out faster in the can. I never could get a good spit shine with the president.
What? You guys polish your boots?
I don't recall ever even seeing anything BUT Kiwi, so that's what I use... I've gotten some heat about it on another forum, but I like to use Parade Gloss after getting a decent shine with the old skool regular polish... Hot damn it looks good! Maybe I'll work on them tomorrow, I'll need something to do with ANOTHER day off work...
The only thing I polish...is NOT my boots.
