bought a 59 Nash Metropolitan

Cool. Those are based on MG's. or something like that?

I'm learning up on em right now. Based on an Austin A40, but many MG parts interchange. It's rough, but it is a sought after year for a few reasons. First year for the 1500, first year for a trunk lid. I'm gonna fix the rust, and decide what it'll end up as. I think a 4 cyl from an import of some sort should double the power.

We had a few of those "bathtub"Metropolitan's at the junkyard Rene...pretty cool little cars..
I think Nash was who made them and then the company got broken up and bought out by other manufacturers ?..

There was a 1953 Metropolitan parked in the weeds, abandoned next to railroad tracks at the gas & electric plant my dad worked at back in the 60's..I think one of the employees left it there perhaps..

I remember him and my brother and I removing the engine--it was about as big as a 6 pack of beer and weighed about as much!..the transmission was about the size of a generator on an old car..both looked too dinky to propel even such a small car..I dont recall what ever happened to the motor & trans though..

I bet your wife will like it Rene...she'll probably hate it at first, but it'll grow on her...when guys came looking for parts with their wives and girlfriends at the junkyard, the cars the women headed right for most often to look at or sit in,were the Metropolitan's and Sunbeams, and Corvairs..

A few pics...

I didn't get a pic of the engine, but it's really clean and looks like it's been worked on recently. Same for the carb. It may be a runner with little work.

Time to swap a HEMI into it !..:D
Even a 283 & powerglide would make that into a road terror..

I think almost every one of those I've seen was red & white two tone like that one--maybe a few white & blue ones also..red & white must have been the #1 color combo choice !..

It's screaming for a new Camaro 4 cyl turbo engine!

I may tidy this up and flip it. Not sure yet. I think a running car that's structurally sound is worth a lot more than I paid.

Don't do that. Fix it up and keep it. Very cool ride. You wife will come around

I know I'm nuts. I just never liked the rotary engine, especially the sound of one. If I was going with import power I'd look at a Datsun 1600. That was a great engine.

A 5.3 would be funner though. :D

all pie in the sky right now. Might get forced to sell something, which might be the Blazer...we'll see.
