I put a din and a half in my 1987. The write up I did got deleted from tech section (Ican't find it) so here it is from my web site http://www.chevroletblazerk5.com/2009/05/installing-full-face-din-and-half-in.html

It has the wiring info

If you drop the tank and it looks very bad, you can take it to a radiator shop an have it vated to get it cleaned.

Metrodps, thanks for the info on the wiring, its not quite the same as mine but it helps. Teck, how mush does it cost to have it worked on by a radiator shop?

It wasn't that much, don't remember how much it was exactly, but I do know the guy that owns the shop. It will come back clean which is hard to do youself.

only cost me a hundred bucks to get my radiator cleaned and rodded and resealed.should be much easier to get a fuel tank cleaned.all you need to do to put a sterio in is 3 wires and then connect speaker wires.need a continuous wire to positive with a inline fuse, keyed ignition wire (which you can take both those off the fuse block, and a ground.that simple on these trucks.of course you will have to hack a hole in the dash if the previous owner hasnt already done so.

alright, it sounds easier than it looks. And I was contemplating between dash mounting or center console mounting.

OK Pizza you have 19 post get a photobucket account set up (its FREE) and start picture whoring!

I already have a photobucket Account. What kind of pics do you want me to whore? i have 40ish of it from getting it home...

Man your one lucky dog! Looks nice not much reto to do to body. How is the dash has the radio opening been hacked up? If it hasn't I would set up a radio in a tuffy box in between seats.

I don't have a pic of the dash (try to get one ASAP), the dash doesn't looked hacked up, but there is a hole for the factory radio. and the new radio is about twice as tall, so i'll put either fancy gauges, CB, or something in the hole and drop the radio into the center console.
here is the radio i got, looking at the back, do you think radio shack would have the plugin for me to make my own harness?

Out of my league here what is it out of? Never seen one like that.

wow i didnt realize you didnt have the harness from the head unit.i know a lot of places like best buy have direct fit harnesses to plug into the stock harness so you dont have to hack up your stock harness when upgrading your system. but you may have to go junkyard or dealer to find that one.should be able to pull one out of any truck from that year.most dash harness are the same to the radio from the same year and make of vehicle.makes it cheaper to make 100,000 of the same thing as they build them.then you have to find out what the wires go to with a diagram so you can hook it up in your ride.

Alright. And if best buy or wherever I go wants to rape me too bad, I can always buy a new radio at no real loss (gotta love free stuff). Tomorrow is one of those days where there is more work than time. I've gotta get a tire, mount it, drop the gas tank and hopefully take off the hood... But I've only got about 3 or 4 hours to do it all. After I get the hood and tank fixed I am going to have to look into electrical (no stop lights, turn signals, and one headlight is out :doah:)

The giveaway about the factory radio hole is that it was originally a 2-post design....

If the sheetmetal is unmodified there will be a small square hole in the center with two post holes on either side. It's pretty rare to find a truck that still has the original shape.
