Hmm... The plastic bracket is different in my '84 and it does not have the cross strap holding the box in. The '84 box has four studs that hold it in the plastic bracket. Both my operational and '84 donor/junker Blazers have the same configuration. Darn Chevy they obviously changed between years.
Can you put spacers between the plastic bracket and metal mounting tabs and drop the box down some? Maybe trim the metal mounting tab?
I think I'm going to punt and go with good old velcro. The metal strap sort of hooks in to a slot on the back side. It would take some work to get it to go. Anything is possible with enough fab work, but I've got other priorities.
Yup, good old velcro. I understand what you are saying about priorities. Took me from Memorial Day until July 4 last summer to complete the TBI install.
