Brake+accelerator pedal pads

I have a 1952 Chevy pickup that I want to swap out the old worn pedal pads. Can anyone suggest some pads that don't look lame like some of the clip on pedal pads do?

I can always order some original pedal pads, but I am looking for something flashier or meaner looking etc.......

Also, how difficult would it be to convert my "plunger" brake style to a more modern one that will give me more room in my truck? (Would it be ok to cut out 3" of the brake pedal bar as long as it engaged the brakes properly?)
