As som may know I broke an axel in my 14bolt. Due to the reaction that EVERYONE gas given me, I think that I am the first person ever on the face of the earth to do so!!! /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif(for thoseof you morons that don't know better, that was sarcasm)Anyway, I broke the right rear at Katemcy while trying to climbe Backbreaker. Now I have broken many a 60 axel, but this is the first 14bolt. Apperently Billy Ray has it on video and he says that my left rear does almost a complet rotation while the right is bound up. A full turn before /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gifPOW /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gifand man was it loud. After it happened Edwin pulled me up to the top. We had a yota with us that at the same time ripped the steering box from the frame. We fixed the yotas box, it moved about 10 feet and the ragjoint let go. We ended up using my rear winch and strapping the yota up to the back of my rig as solid as we could. I dead pulled the yoat with three wheel drive down the hill and the trails. All that being said, I figured that I was going to have to gut the 14bolt to get all of the metal out since I drove it pretty damn hard down the hill. So last weekend I pulled the axel. Let me tell I only wish evrything was this easy. The last three 60 joints that I have destroyed had made me pull the whole knuckel in order to get the shaft out. The 14bolt took about 2 minutes. I pulled the 8 bolts that held it in and the axel fell out. I broke the shaft about 2 inches from the hub /forums/images/graemlins/woot.gif /forums/images/graemlins/woot.gif i had two SNAP ON magnets, touched them to the shaft and plonk!!! /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif out she came. It was a clean snap. It looks like it was /forums/images/graemlins/hack.gifcut in half(minus the swirl) Anyways, there ya go. New one is on order and should be here in time to get the rig up to the MEGA-RUN out at Gilmer then off to the next BIG MEAT run in Arkansas. Billy Ray, if you can get me the footage I would be very happy!! <font color="red"> Well, I am heading up to the big meat run this weekend so I decided on Sunday to put the shaft in the 14 bolt. Peice - o - Cake, Right!! WRONG!! /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif The axel went in just fine, but when I hopped in the rig, put it in drive, and tried to back out, only one tire was spinning. NOT A GOOD SIGN!! Pulled the carrier and pulled the detroit. I detroyed the Detroit. Ripped all of the teeh off of the right side. DOH!! Luckily we had another at the shop!! It is back together and on its way to Arkansas as I type!! Hope to see some of ya there.
