The problem isn't so much the bender mechanism, it's the cost of the die sets. You're not about to be able to build those at home...which means you'll still be paying out the arse.

what tR said... the dies are the $pendy part. It'd be cool to make your own, "built not bought" and all that... but the actual bender isn't really THAT expensive.
