Cage and which axle to link first?

My '84 K5 is about at the end of where I want to be drivetrain wise. It's got a locked 60 Front, ARB 14 Bolt rear with 4.56 gears. (would like to go deeper). Th400-Eco-Clocked 205. Goal is a 40" tire but it's on about 38's now.
Suspension is the typical poor mans 52s up front with shackle flipped 54 inch Tahoe springs in the back. I'm happy with the flex and the truck is very balanced and crawls well for being a fat pig, but it rides like shit in the desert. And it's like a wandering boat on the road. It's exciting getting to and from the trails.

It's time for some safety. Ready to Install the cage. I've got the basic kit from Diy with the family bars to start with and 40' more on the way. That's not a problem, but I have to fix the rear bed first as it's rusted all to hell. Obviously not an AZ truck. So I've got to put in a floor and tailpan in first. I'm also tired of knocking out the tail lights so I'm gonna narrow the rear a foot while I'm at it. The rear seat is going to become two buckets to give room through the floor for coilovers.

Which brings me to the question.... Which axle do we link first. I can only do one at a time $$$ wise.
My focus is on the rear at this point. The rear springs and homemade shackle flip are due for failure soon. I just put junkyard 52s up front to replace a broken spring so they have a season or two left in them. I'm in the rear already so I'd like to start there, but it looks like everybody starts in the front. Is there a reason I couldn't 4 link the back first?
I'm ready to go a little faster too.. Takes forever to get across whoops and the lake bed to Chocolate Thunder!

6 in one hand, half a dozen in the other. I asked Stephen from ORD this at Blazer bash two years ago, really it depends on your purpose. Front links are better for road manners and driving around, rear links was recommended for a more offroad-purposed truck (which is why I did rear first).

Also I had 52s in the front and didn't hate how they rode (granted they were Alcans) but I did not love the rear's ride.

You can absolutely link the rear first!

It will probably make you want to link the front soon after, but I linked the rear of my Blazer first and I think that was a good choice (had dead springs, needed a traction bar, decided to link it instead).

Thanks guys! Sounds like the rear will happen first. I've got some saving to do and work on the cage and floor. But it will help knowing where to tie in the cage and hoops all at the same time. This summer I'll be busy! I'll post as I go on here.
