Hey
Since they replaced the nozzles on the pumps in California, everytime I go to get gas now it leaks out and down the side of my truck. Anybody else had this problem and have you found a work around?

Move to a non-communist state?

Sorry had to :D

There's some new goofy ones here in Reno as of recent, not sure if they're related to the border with the Left Coast or not...

No matter how I orient the damn thing in the filler, the pressure release thing goes off. I have to hold the nozzle only about an inch in and stand there the whole time. Then when the tank is actually full, the vent backpressure thing doesn't work correctly since I'm barely holding the nozzle in there, and it sprays gas all over the ground before I can react.

Leave it to those intellectually bankrupt "safety" agencies to re-invent the wheel and do exactly the opposite of what they're trying while collecting a paycheck on our tax dollars. Just like the damn DOT-mandated self-venting gas cans that just vent liquid gas. Anyone remember those awesome gas cans we had like 15 years ago? They were thick polyethylene and had a small vent cap on the back and a nice long filler neck.

i hope i dont run into one of thoose dang things...if i do ill take my knife out my glove box and cut the damn hose...doing some personal justice.

Maybe it is just mine cause it is older. I live in Tahoe and I have tried four gas stations and they all do it now. Back in October California gas stations were forced to change their nozzles. Something about the nozzles falling out and spraying people with gas. Fortunatley I am at Stateline and can go to Nevada and get gas and have no problems. :dunno:

It's all bullsh1t
the nozzles were fine, now they just say "Eco-cycle" or some crap like that
venting BS I'm sure

funny, diesel is 3.50-4.10 around here. That nozzle is still the regular pipe with a trigger. I know why, but for what the fuel is, little transporting danger, less regulation, etc....it sure seems to be worth a lot.

The only reason diesel is more than gas now is because of the low sulfur act. Diesel used to be the super fuel, cost less and had 20% more energy in it. Now its 20% more and has 20% more energy...

I guess its one way to force older vehicles off the road

how is that?
No one will force me off the road, I will never own newer cars.
The price of a new car will offset all the fuel savings I will ever have by switching.
And as for the original post, I don't understand what is leaking? The tank or the nozzle?
I do have one issue with the new nozzles, my jetta will not take the lock, I need to hold it upside down to be able to fill my tank.:doah:

I put the nozzle in and push the rubber against the body and pull the lever and it spits out the sides of the rubber and down the body. Tried upside down, sideways, holding the rubber back. Just doesn't work right. Never had a problem until October and works fine in Nevada. Whatever, must just be my truck. I figured others must be having issues too but I guess not.

Is the vent tube in your filler neck plugged or something? I know what you're saying about the new pumps bringing the suck, but that sounds worse than what I've experienced.

Let's hope your stuff is just messed up and it's not going to screw us all over :p:
