Thanks! I've almost got more than I can handle. Need to let a few go, but can't bear to part with anything. Don't want to let the t-top go, but it's not as fun to drive as the ugly car and I don't want to mess it up swapping motors or anything.

Haha, wow, blast from the past. Friend in HS (95-97 time frame) was from a big GM owning/modifying family and he had a late 80's IROC-Z. Red with...gray?...and a 350 and automatic. I didn't have many classes in school with him but we went to the same church and many times four or five of us piled into the IROC and skipped Youth Group.:D He had a 'bangin' system in it and I remember the pipes also sounding really nice.

Oh, and the wagon...again, memories. Good friend had a '78 Malibu wagon. 350 out of a Vette his uncle wrecked and a TH350. Big and littles, forest green paint (hey, it was the 90's), and loud. He and his dad did all the work in their garage including body work.

    Ah, the old days.:thumb:

I found this thread because it was mentioned in yours. I was backreading the racecar thread.

The IROC and the SS are both sold. The hot rod and the RS are still around. I haven't driven either in quite a while. I actually started the RS the other day and rode around in the yard. It surprised me it actually started!

I need to get that thing tagged this year but I'm running out of summer and been out of money...

    The piecemeal 84 SC.

Although I've been considering pulling the suspension off it and put it on my 89 then sell the engine.

I'm thinking more and more about pulling the 84 apart and building a nice driving street car from the 89. Leave the L03, add headers and good exhaust, maybe some Vortec 305 heads and the TBI-Vortec intake and a TPI 305 cam for a little bump in power. Then I think I have some 3.23 gears for the 7.5 at Dad's that would be great with a limited slip in the rear. Add some tubular control arms and new shocks and struts and have a great mostly original driver.

Why mess around with all that old tbi/you/305 crap when (dare I say it) a 5.3/6.0 swap would be better down the Rd?

Not that interested in it honestly. I'm not looking to build something fast, just fun to drive and nice.

The car's already a classic and being a numbers matching L03 car with some upgrades makes it more unique. Plus the thing gets like 25-30MPG with cruise and A/C going as it is.

Gotcha. Didn't realize that it was still original engine.

Just drive it and have fun.
