camel hump heads worth it?

Those dirt track guys are all about as much cheating as they can get away with.

I made alot of money for a while buying those type heads and selling for a big profit.

Bingo those and the 186 are the best factory head when the rules state
"only stock production heads, must have GM part number"

The truck in my avatar ran dirt, fig 8 and has bone stock 186's....well.sorta

There are a few different castings but for the most part they flow the same and have smaller cc chambers.

i got the 76 fuely heads off a vette.has the 2.02 intake valves with hardened seats and accessory holes.traded for a non running 327 block.guy just wanted it for a el camino project.they flow pretty good but if you dont get the hardened seats on the older one, they will burn up.you can use a lead substitue in every tank of gas,but im not sure how much it helps with all the new additives they have in gas as well as the ethanol in there as well.

if I was in your shoes I would go with vortec heads and an intake swap. I was just looking for a cheap power adder to a older engine

That is probably what I will end up doing when I get around to it.

I'm just tired of working on the turd at this point.

Or you could find your self some good pre vortec heads I have a set off them with 58 cc closed chamers and the only down fall is they do have smaller valves but.... if you do a little work and port n polish them and match them to your intake they will hands down spank a set of humps. Plus with humps you have to find a set that have acc. holes or you will be buying/building brackets . Pluse the 58 cc is good for at least 1 or 1 1/2 points of compression.

dart iron eagles and never look back. Buy them preassembled from summit, some companys buy the bare heads and put chineese valves in them and people complain about them because the valves dont seat right.

while on head talk, have you or a machinest ever checked run out the seats on a new head casting or even. Been surprised what has been found from all companys of head. Although many people wouldn't notice a .0005-.001 seat out of round bit that's normally the case. The issue comes when they press in harden seats and don't finish them off with a seat grind.

I guess that's what happens when mass production takes over.

nope bought my heads assembled and just waiting for the shortblocks to get build. Dads building me and my brother two identical 355s, 10.5:1 with flat tops and 64cc heads, 2.02/1.60 valves with the best springs, 200cc runners. Edelbrock air gap intake and 750 holleys. His cam is a hydro, mines a solid isky z-27 but I may change over to a hydro or maybe a hydro roller (I should really do this one).

Oh ya, this is for the camaro, not the k5.

If I recall, aren't there two camel backs? A large double hump and a smaller double hump and were the smaller humps angle plugs too?
