Can I have your D60?

In my time on the net I have seen that the people that need a 60 the least complain about their prices the most.

Just sayin :D

This may be a dumb question, but has anyone ever compiled a list of what 60's will fit in our trucks? I've been reading and looking for a while now and am still unsure of possible donor vehicles I should be looking for.

So no Dodge or Furd 60's?

Not sure on what years but the Dodge D60 is a 1/2" different on spring spacing.

Fords are all driver side pumpkin. If you swap to a drivers drop t-case then 78-79 Ford HP but expect to pay BIG dollars for that axle.

Cool, that clears it up for me. I thought I had read the spacing was different on the Dodge, but sixb's post listed a couple Dodge 60's (I can get easily confused :D).

i got my 79 snofighter axle for free after i parted the truck out i bought for 520 bucks.this was it

yea and i basically got my 1 ton drivetrain..465/205/60f/14bff for under a $100 bucks..along w/alot other parts(see post#18)...but that was 5 yrs worth of looking in the yards and around the farm shops and lone trucks growed up in weeds..leaving my name and # at all the salvage yards, in case they got a 1 ton 4x4 in.

The Dodge ones will fit with some simple mods. I believe DIY and ORD sell offset spring bushings to counteract the slightly differnent perch width of the Dodge D60. Some guys just pull the springs inboard slightly and bolt it up...really, it's only 1/4" off per side.

Biggest thing to watch with the Dodge is that you don't inadvertantly end up with a high ratio D61.

I paid $1200 for my D60...30,000 miles on it out of a M1008, 4.56's, good KP's and almost new brakes. Didn't require anything more than a cleaning and some paint.

But were you still wheelin while you were waitng those 5 years :p: ?

I might pay a little more sometimes for things but I cant stand to miss a season of wheelin :p:

I sorta build as I go.

I paid the exact ammount for the exact same 60.

But my brakes were new and I didnt even have to clean it before I painted it.

:D

So you paid $520 and drove 5+ hours (one way?both ways?) for a drivers drop axle you cant just bolt in.

Whats your point

I think his point was that they are out there you just have to look and be patient. That axle around here will bring $1200 easy in stock form.I have connections for stuff now but there was atime I would have considered driving like that to get one.I've probably had 25-30 60 fronts in the last 3-4 years.I average about one a month anymore.

bought the truck parted it out and got the 60 for free.plus i went to a buddies house that lived close by there and we went and got it.deal can be found you just have to be pacient and keep looking and it was a direct bolt in.i traded my d44 out of the truck for a chevy203/ford 205 doubler.

Good deals can be found in Texas..I bought a d60/14ff for $400 a few years ago and d60 by its self about 6 months ago for $550.

I got both off Craigslist. I would check all of texas before making a 1500 miles trip to rust country. Check all the 4x forums, the deals are out there!!

Good luck!

Stomis if you find one on the cheap let me know. Sounds like I would spend way less than 1k for one, so it sounds, by driving to NJ. Trip included....how far is that from the Lone Start State?

But your going to deal with heavily rusted parts and need to figure in the fuel or shipping which will likely bring the cost over $1000 by the time your done.
