Can someone explains why these cost so much?

The auction is for a pair, $40 ea is probably not too bad. I would also think that when GM did offer them they would have been atleast $30 ea.
 
Ive seen them go for much more than that. And in not brand new condition
 
I think I could have some water jetted for less.
 
I would rather have the metal 79 style for that price. It is PLASTIC
 
fine, then get to lowering, installing the 305 and the crappy gears, NOW.
 
I can see that. Still I don't want to rip them off on the trail for that cost. I will either skip or have someone cut me some and powder coat them.
