Carburetor problems on hills....

Hi. What carb I should put to my 400 pontiac V8?
600cfm or 650cfm? There is edelbrock intake in my engine.

My problem isnt flooding, its getting blocked. I'm not getting gas. I floor it and it just stutters till I let off enough to not be rolling down the hill it will be fine, but if I try to give it anymore to make it up it will stutter and die

What carb is on the truck? We can tell you if you get a picture of it.

q-jets are definetly the best carb out there... but they have nothing on fuel injection. If your gonna be hot rodding your motor over 420hp then the carb will be a lot cheaper but otherwise tbi will work. You'll need a BB tbi or holley 670 cfm tbi and a 2" bore intake manifold (could also use a carb manifold with an adapter) for anything over 300 hp. You'll also need to burn a custom fuel map. It's fairly simple but will cost you a decent amount of money.

However, if your close to stock hp you could get everything you needed from a junkyard for under 300 bucks (tbi). While your there you might as well pick up a BB tbi instead of the SB unit. Everything else (comp, harness, etc) should work fine with the BB tbi.

I have a picture somewhere but dont know where for sure....
I'll try and get on up tomorrow, its an after market 2 barrel ?

my buddy had a AFB with the offroad kit and he went every i did when i had a q-jet....im getin a performer jetted for me rite now with a offroad kit edl 1465 is the part # i think in the summit mag...my q-jet was droped when off the truck while i was moving and bent body...and i just put bigger after markets heads and a decent cam in my k5, and the performer is much easier to tune the a q-jet....if you got a stock motor go with the q-jet, it mite be a vaccuum leak and its not sucking the fuel outa the bowl.....or its jus spillin out the top through the gaskets and not enough leaving enuf in the bowl for when u open it up....maybe......

Found mine, its a OEM Rochester 2 Barrel, do I need to get new intake minfolds for a Q-jet or is there an adapter?

your guna need a new intake most likley...look up summitracing.com i think they got the summit brand aluminum intakes for q-jets for 99.99....it would be worth it..
