So a few years back I posted about a GMC casa grande I found, I was gonna get it but I didn't have the cash at the time.

So today me and my buddies were out shootin' some of our newly acquired toys and my buddy steven told me to turn into this junkyard out here in the sticks so we coukld visit his friend. I get out and there set the casa grande. It was one of those 'It's myne!' moments. The guy had no clue what the hell it was! needless to say I got me a casa grande today.

It was cool because my ol' man and I were just talkin about it last week.
I gotta get some pictures up and what not.

I read that post twice... and I still have no ****ing clue wtf is going the hell on...

ok I guess after Dremu's post it makes a bit more sense... just a little bit.

What is so confusing? He bought a GMC Casa Grande which is a pretty rare K5. Basically the GMC version of the Chevy Chalet...

I was typing my response at the same time as everyone else. I don't know what a casa grande is so that's why I was confused.

Blazer Chalet
The Blazer Chalet mini RV was available in 1976 and 1977. Take a K5 Blazer and attach a pop-top Chinook camper, and you have a Blazer Chalet. The base Chalet option was $895 over the price of the vehicle, with a number of upgrades available for the camper, including a 5000-btu propane heater, foldout upper bunks, and AC/DC power. Chassis options were the same as any Blazer’s. Exact production numbers are uncertain, but the Chevrolet 1976 and 1977 Accumulative Shipments Reports show some 1,555 units. That doesn’t include the GMC Jimmy version called the Casa Grande. Estimates are that some 1,800 of these mini RVs were produced in total. In retrospect, it was a cool idea. Who knows why it didn’t continue.

They'd have probably sold more originally if they would have offered an O.D. option.:D Congrats on your truck. I've got a few parts laying around for the camper if you need anything.

Well my first time seeing one was 1977 it was sitting in the dealers show room and I fell in love with it. I even came close to buying one till I found out it was missing the top (the pop up roof). I think they are still great! The thought of being able to go off road and have your house on your back. A single mans dream :D

Congrats on your very rare find, I hope I will be lucky enough to find one someday.

The camper tops on those aren't made to be removed at all are they? I've seen pictures in ads and everything looks pretty permanent...
