I came across an old compressor the other day that got me to thinking. It is a diaphram type, oiless with ball bearings on crank and "rods".It has loads of cfm but max's out at 60 psi. It's driven with a 1/2 horse 110v motor now. I plan on coupling a starter motor to it and mounting it under the hood. Any body out there ever try using a starter motor for anything other than it's intended purpose??? I realize duty cycle may be an issue, but with used starters at the local U-PULL-IT only $15, I'm willing to experiment. Any suggestions on what starter would be best/easiest to adapt???
