Cheap plasma cutters any experience?

Yes I'm happy with my Cut 50. One thing I did notice though was the type of switch on the stinger. I sold my first one to the guys I share my building with and ordered a new one. This new model was the same specs and everything but the switch is different and we do not like it. Harder to strike an arc and no feedback when pressing it. @Fastereddie had the same experience when using mine also. I would go back to the analog style switch if I could.

I like mine. It was worth the money to me since it is the pilot arc. I still haven't used it enough to really learn what I'm doing. It cuts 1/4'' pretty good, but for some reason I have a hard time cutting straight down through it. It wants to cut sideways lol. Probably operator error

just had to swap my torch consumables finaly in the hypertherm xp45 . otherwise 100% rock solid and cuts what ever i point it at .

El cheapo Lotos still cutting like a champ! Used it a bunch in the spring repairing sno-cat, cut whatever I wanted it to.

Hmmmm..........Miller spectrum 375, the one i REALLY want is about $1500, but the general consensus here is that the cheapos actually do a good job---especially for something that is only going to be used very intermittently---as in my case.

So maybe i need to be looking at the cheapos. (although i may still go with the Miller....)

So what else do i need? A compressor? If so, how big? Will 120V outlet be ok or do i need 240V?

You'll need 220v for the plasma, unless someone has a 110v now. Don't need a massive compressor because the air flow isn't maxed out. I kept my pressure at about 40 psi and my 30 gal. porter cable kept up fine. You might need more if you're making longer cuts in thicker material.

i have a cheap plasma that looks like the cut 50 (but i cant remember the name right now), that i have had for about 15 years and still going strong. it can run off of 220 or 115, i have been running it on 115 this whole time.

Go to Amazon and search for "cut50 plasma" and you'll get lots of units to shop through.

I've been looking at the PrimeWeld 50A, it's not the cheapest but still very affordable. The are other "cut50" units that start around $200 but looking through YouTube reviews I've seen where some of the real cheap units don't have a warranty or they are overseas so it's difficult to make a claim. The PrimeWeld company is supposed to have US based support.

One video claimed that cheaper cutters go through consumables faster than higher quality units, has anyone found this to be true? Why would they?
