check this out: diesel vette

seems like a waste to me but hey what do i know...

its unique thats for sure, dont know of many diesel sports cars

I wouldnt consider this a sports car. sure it looks the part but its not.

It doesnt even have a turbo...i bet he couldnt fit it. and why the hell would he lower the fuel pressure...that just seems to be asking for troubles unless theres a way to do it saftely. but i bet he couldnt do it with the turbo, im sure you need all the fuel you can get. I know he was trying to cover up the noise but think about it...you just put a diesel motor in a vet...wouldnt you want people to know its a diesel...

It's got to put a lot of weight on the front end!

I cant imagine its that much more than a bbc though.

I got the impression he just wanted a cruiser that would net some great fuel mileage. Weight of the motor is about the same as a BBC, and with the rest of the car not weighing much i'm sure performance isn't that bad...certainly no race winner but not bad either.

Looks cool fo a 48 mpg car. It's a hell of a lot better than a Prius.

48 mpg canadian he said...so wouldnt that be liters per kilometer or something?

I noticed the 48 MPG Canadian too. That's probably like 18 MPG American. Wonder what kind of HP (canadian of course) it's running.

here is what i found, i duno if its right or not:

he is talking Canadian gallons which is Imperial Gallons, or 1 Imp gallon equal 1.2 US gallon. The 77 should still have miles on the speedo as 78 was the first year the kilo speedo. Still good mileage, the 55 mpg is about 46 mpg US, and 48 is 40 mpg.

HAH that is funny.. I was joking with a friend yesterday.. he bought a jeep liberty diesel.. I told him I was going to put a duramax diesel, twin turbo, nos and propane injection in my 1996 camaro... :haha:

Still better than driving a prius....

That is too cool. I totaly dig it, if I could afford the car itself I would do the same damn thing, just with a 6.2 cause they're easier to find.

A GM 6.2/6.5 IS SMALLER AND LIGHTER THAN A BIG BLOCK

so I doubt the car will have any issues with the weight. Hell I would even de-tune it a little too, get rid of some of the noise and gain some mileage I imagine. When you put the motor in a vehicle that weighs half as much as what it originally came in you dont really need all that monsterous non-turbo power.
