Chevrolet comes from Louis Chevrolet, the founder of the company.

From William Durant. He was visiting a French Hotel and saw the design on some wallpaper and copied it.

    Here's one -kinda...

Can you name all the product lines under the G.M. name ? (I.E. - Chevtolet, Pontiac, ect..)(Not just in the U.S., but from around the world)
Can you name all the product lines that G.M. is owner or partial owner of ?

    And for a bonus,
Do the same for Ford. (seems to me, Ford has thier hand in alot more stuff than G.M. does)

I can name several of them - but not all. It's crazy when you realize how huge they really are.

It is his namesake , and he was a partner . However it always really was Durants baby , and Durant did it all . Chevrolet bailed out quickly . Durant also started Frigidaire /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

The first CHEVY V/8 was 1955 and it was a 265 CI. and it did not have an oil filter.

GM was using a V/8 in the teens in cadillacs.

The cadillacs were GM based flathead engines. I have rebuilt several of them in the last few years.

Cadillac also had a V/12 and a V/16 not sure what manufacturer they were though but definately not GM

265 in '55, first year for the 283 was 57, I believe you could get it with fuel injection and 283 HP, three dueces with 265 hp or so, and a single 4 bbl model was 250 or something.....

Ok, how many different conventional cast iron block displacement SBC's are there? List the engine displacements as well.
