Just a side note, not all LT1's have aluminium heads. The F-body and Vette do, but the Impala SS and the LT1 Caprice have iron heads. I agree with what you're saying about the LS1 benefiting from being all aluminium. As an option you could always have some iron LT1 heads ported when building up an LT1. A little trivia, the iron heads don't require the highre octane gas the aluminium heads due. They were developed with police duty in mind and GM realized that police stations don't fill up with the good stuff. That would probably change once you start porting the heads and messing with the compression ratio.

Are these short blocks for $300???? Or do they need rebuilds?? For that price I might consider dropping one in my Camaro. I take it you probably work at a dealership and these are engines that are swapped under warantee, right?
