i'm going to repaint it with that color too!
Dumb question but what was the GM name for that color? They had some great names for the paint colors back then.
It was just called Lime Green. You're thinking of Mopars, they had some really ghey names for their colors back in the early '70s... 
Eh, trying to remember the name of the orange on my dad and mom's '76 K5. Harvest Gold or some such crap I think. We'd call it orange and dad would fire up with the official name for the color. It was orange.
got the front floor finished up last nite... or as far as i'm going to go till i've got the sliders installed. stuff looks like it is wet, even when it is dry. kinda funny. looking forward to herculining it... but that stuff really coats nicely. the metal even FEELS stronger. 
i have been prepping the remaining portions of the body that need the rust treatment. nothing else really needs much grinding, mostly cleaning and then covering with POR15. got it all cleaned and treated last nite, gonna go out and hit it with POR15 in a minute.
hopefully this weekend, if i can afford it, i will be installing the sliders and herculining the interior! i think my project after that will be stripping the dash pad down to the frame and then recovering it with fiberglass.

The first time I used POR I used a piece of sheet aluminum as a stir stick.
I still have it somewhere and you can whack the thing with a hammer and not even leave a mark on it.

that stuff is CRAZY durable... feels really scuff resistant too. i'm VERY happy with it. i finished my last coat (for now) this morning. i don't think i'm going to do any more of it in the cab. i want to really go crazy with it on the under-side tho. 
it'll be a while before i get to that point tho - gotta cut out the rocker boxes and do a bunch of cleaning under there and i'm not too excited about laying on the concrete floor getting covered in crap right now.

ok, here's an update. i got all the POR15 applied to the interior and windshield frame. i also installed my soft top last nite to get fitment taken care of and to get the holes drilled that i'd need. i want to repaint the whole frame to the soft top (i think its aluminum)... i think black would be best. any recommendations on what to use? how about a simple rattle can primer and then hit it with a glossy black?

thanks! figuring out how to install that soft top without instructions was a major PITA. I need to get replacement snaps - one for the front most support and one for the windshield frame - i was missing two. i also need to get a new driver's door (i've got an extra passenger door) so that i can install the window frames for the soft top, as well as a tailgate. i'd like to do it soon so that all the holes can be drilled and i can coat the insides of the holes with some primer or something.
well, as it turns out, the herculiner had to be ordered in and i won't receive it till monday... bummer. oh well, i can get started on the sliders this weekend.

atleast your soft top had the bows to it, im having to build my own bows for mine, plus have the windows replaced, plus install all snaps to the body lol
I'm think'in those pins in your bed where to aline the bench seat, then held in place by spring pins, like you would use on a hood. Certianly not stock.

tonite i didn't make much progress. i took the soft top back off and cleaned and primed its bows/frame. i spent a bunch of time trying to get a door mounted on the passenger side so i can be prepared for cutting the rockers out this weekend but i couldn't get the damn thing aligned. guess i'll have to read that tech article about it... doesn't seem like it should be very difficult!

ok, tomorrow i'll be herc.ing the rear of the '73. i'm pretty stoked. i am going to herc the rails for the soft top too, and have it permanently installed. i didn't do a very good job of painting the rails initially... i think it was mostly due to the cold. it just isn't all that durable, so the herc should take care of it. i'm looking forward to it. i'll be waiting on herc.ing the rest of the truck till after i install the sliders. hopefully that will happen this week.

My only thought is Herc is pretty rough...like abrasive rough. Dunno if I'd want that rubbing against my expensive and hard to replace K5 soft top.
I know it's been addressed before...but don't get any herc on your hootus! 
the plan is to only cover those parts which won't be in contact with the top.
