converting 4wd th400 to a 2wd?

I seem to recall someone or someones mentioning that the output shaft of a th400 w/ a 208 (what I have now) is the same length as that of a 2wd th400 with a short tailshaft. is this correct or am I missing some info?

The 208 TH400 shaft sticks out about 2-7/16" , the 2WD and 205 TH400 sticks out 4-1/2"

you WANT a 2wd tranny,but only have a 4x4 one??

I have a high mileage TH400 short tail out of a 74 Monte Carlo sitting in my shed the past 15 years..was good when I pulled it(it drove the car here anyway)..
...too bad it wont fit my 82 K20 ,I'd keep it, use it for a spare.. ..have no use for a car or 2wd one at the moment..
