Well, I am back to considering a doubler again. I am just having trouble weighing the options. Here in MI there is not any rock crawling at all. Tons of mud, some hills climbs and sand dunes. Some tight challenging stuff. Not too far off is Attica where there is some use for really low gears. But, I will probably only be there once a year.

With the 44s I can see that it would be helpful on the slower stuff. Anyone using a doubler with 44s? What is the final ratio like?

I guess I am just looking for a little help to convince myself. ļ

here's my reasoning for my rig. I have 4.10 gears. By the time I get 5.29's, setup, a new detroit for the carrier break, pay someone $200 an axle, ect, I could have a doubler for a couple hundred more. More gearing options, and a lower overall crawl. If I have the cash to do one or the other, it'll be the doubler all the way.
