could this be modified to work up front??

We've already had a few discussions on here about swapping axles front to rear and the fact is that you can do it. 10-bolt axles are the clear example. They use the same ring, pinion, spiders, carrier, etc. front and rear and this works at both ends. You just use the opposite side of the teeth. The exception are high-pinion axles. If you flip an axle around, the pinion is now on the opposite side of the ring gear, so you get rotation in the other direction.

Well dang, for whatever reason what I posted is what I thought was correct.

I drew myself a little drawing and can't convince myself that you're not right

just as a thought i dont beleive that they are dana 60's. AAM is the manufacturer i do believe. also petersons has an article on them but can t find it on their site. they are set up with ball joints and only steer like 20 degrees. and GM has tested them with up to 35" tires

The owner(Matt), of the local 4x4 shop attitude performance, has a quadrasteer d60 that he installed in the rear of his mid 90s suburban trail rig. He got it from the local dealership, story goes; a customer brought in their truck for repair, something was wrong in the rear and needed replacement, they couldn't get just that part and had to buy a whole housing. Matt found out about this and was able to buy the old axle.

He is not using the electric steer setup and will be running hydro instead. As stated before, it doesnt turn as sharp as the front axle does, but matt figures anything is better than nothing, especially on a suburban. The knuckles are BEEFY! They tried putting a dana 60 cover on it and none of the bolt holes lined up. Instead they ordered a rock ring from blue torch fab with no holes in it, and then they drilled their own and welded plate to it to turn it into a diff cover.

Next time I am at the shop I will get some pics if you guys want.
