I am getting exhaust fumes in the cab. I found my left exhaust manifold to be cracked. A big long vertical crack about 8 inches long. I would like to get a used one but this talk of Generation I, II, etc...engines confuses me. How can I tell what 350 engines have the same manifold? I'm trying to buy a house so no $$$ to spend on headers + new exhaust system right now.

If you put up a pic somebody might have one laying around. You just never know what us packrats may have stashed away for no good reason.:D

Gen 1 for sure, but I can't recall how many different styles there are.

I believe on the 350's, there was only one bolt pattern, but you either had a "log" style that went above the spark plugs, or another style that hung underneath the plugs. Well, and rams horn, but those would not be factory on your truck.

I plan on being in The Dalles next weekend (not this coming) visiting friends/family, but I suspect the logistics of making this happen would be difficult? No idea how far it is from Hermiston to The Dalles.

Probably too long to wait as well? But free is free. :)

Well if you need to head up there for some reason, maybe we can work something out. But somehow I doubt The Dalles is the hub of activity out that way lol.

Thanks for the info and support guys, I appreciate it. I'll see if i can run out and snap a pic this evening after I get off work.

Pictures of the crack

Here are a couple pics of the problem. If anyone has a spare left side exhaust manifold lying around that would fit here I would be appreciated.

The guy at the part store says that welding won't last very long, but if I can find someone to nickel weld it?

Oh and the crack is more like 3 or 4 inches long.

yup i have a set of them but im in northeastern oregon. ill give them to you but its upto you to get them to you. whenever the next portland swap meet is i know i can give them to a guy who will haul them there.

It looks like it's $18 to ship a 30lb package UPS Ground from Hermiston and $20 from Anaheim. UPS shows Hermiston has 4 drop off locations for packages. So I guess it is up to whichever of you wants to do the leg work for me and get this thing boxed up and dropped off? I'll be happy to send you the shipping cost ahead of time. Just let me know I'll send it snail mail or paypal, whatever you would like!

You have to be careful with used manifolds. I had some, or at least tried to have some put on my truck. Most of them didn't fit, or couldn't be made to fit onto my engine. I was lucky and had access to many to choose from.

Now perhaps I had a bad exhaust tech but he said it is pretty common for used manifolds not to fit? Basically I didn't have a good experience with it. Hopefully I am just the rare case! lol
