Krauty, Limey, Spic, Spearchucker! YAY!
Title of the thread was intended to gain attention in a comical fashion. Not a racial slur.
Crazy JAPANESE would be better. Jap is a racial slur
But those are some weird products they come up with
OMG that title almost made me fall out of my chair
I always thought it was funny that people say the word "Nip" or "Nips" is a racial slur... japanese call their home "Nippon"... not "Japan"... so if anything "japanese" is a slur. It'd be sorta like if someone from Europe came over and purposely mispronounced "american"... like... I dunno... "schmerican" or something.
"Japanese" is a slur So what do the call themselves "Nippons"
I work for a Japanese/Nippanese/Nippon car company and some of the models are made in Canada. So they have codes "JAP" for Japan made and "NAP" for North American made. Well one day at the tech counter I asked the technician is the car "Jap" or "Nap", he gave me a 10 minute lecture of how the word "Jap" is a racial slur. I guess Toyota got complaints about this and now refer's to Japan built as "JPP".
Just thought i would share this story
One of my Father's brothers died at Bataan......................we still call 'em Japs!
So did my great grandpa who fought in WWII before he passed away.
Yeah and one time some black guy punched me, I'm joining the KKK because one person is reflective as a group as a whole
Some day you may be aware of the "Real World".
I am, it's ****, I'm trying to better it instead of blithly walking around whining about it
It was the KKK anime that did you in..........
pretty sure the most direct translated spelling would be "Nipponese" but I ain't 100% sure... especially since the whole "ese" thing a western thing. The Japanese language isn't easily expanded upon, so perhaps they adopted the "ese" thing... I dunno. I didn't spend too much time in Japan... but what I do know is that their own word for themselves doesn't start with a "Jah" sound. IMO you should call people what they call themselves, unless they tell you otherwise. In the case of Japan, Im not sure if our pronunciation was born in igorance or bias... but either way, "nip" would logically seem to be the least offensive thing you could all them.... not that I'm getting all touchy-feely about such things, just wanted to point out a bit of irony. The Japanese have a good deal of racism and sexism ingrained into their modern society, so maybe we shouldn't worry so much about offending them.
Separate names with a comma.
