My buddy has an old 1 ton dually that he swears has crossover steering on it. Is this a factory crossover steering or what? He told me to use the parts from the 1 ton to build my cross over steering but It is in the middle of a muddy field and it is raining so I can't really go look at it. Does any of this make sence? Will any of the stuff work? Pitman arm? Steering arm? Draglink? I'm sure the steering box will work. Thanks guys!

I believe the crossover setup is similar to that on the 88+ trucks. It doesn't have a solid draglink, but has the drakling end with an idler arm and such. So short answer is no the only thing you can use is the power steering box.

2WD trucks have steering simmilar to how the cars have always been :

The box has a pitman arm that goes to centerlink , which is attached to the idler arm on the other side . The centerlink has a tie rod attached to each side as well .

So if I order a steering arm from ORD can I use a tie rod off another truck? (trim to fit) And could I use the pitman arm off the 1 ton or something else or do I need to order a pitman arm also? I have a 1985 M1008 that I bought for parts that had a D44 front axle (I know thats now what came with it). Could I use the tie rod from that? I'm getting ready to order my 1" body lift and 1" zero rates from ORD and want to get my steerings stuff at the same time.

What year trucks came with the "large GM tie rod ends"? ORD says thats what they use and I would rather make my own drag link that spend another $190 on theirs. I'm going to order the pitman arm and steering arm today.
