Cummins mated to an Allison??

yeah there is. but here's a guess as to what it IS. It's either a 903 or a 555 and it won't fit in your pickup. rough guess it weighs about 2500 lbs or more. This is a 903

on ebay 1 time i saw a 5.9 cummins and a allision auto all in a factory equiped f650 truck. go figure:eek1:

Just for reference, alot of buses came with 5.9 cummins (same one in dodge truck) mated to a 540 allison auto.

We build garbage trucks where I work. We get in chassis from every manufacturer out there: CCC, Peterbuilt, Mack, Autocar, Sterling, Volvo, GMC, Ford, International and Chevy. About 90% of them have Allison transmissions. I have seen Allisons mated to Cat, Navistars, Izuzu, Cummins, Mack, Volvo, Duramax and Nissan engines. Although most of the engines/tranny combos I have seen would be far too big to swap into something like a light duty truck, we do build a product called a Retriever that is basically a very small garbage truck. Most of the ones we build are on Izuzu or GMC chassis, but I have seen small Sterlings with Cummins ISL engines and Allisons 1000 transmissions. So to answer your question, yes it is possible to have a Cummins mated to a Allison.

I would think most industrial diesel engines would have the SAE bellhousing bolt pattern so the engines could mount to a wide variety of transmissions.

should've thought of the HUGE cummins motors but when i read that my mind kinda lit up :D

Such a buzzkill :(

Oh well :dunno:

For sure you can get a 5.9 B cummins with a 2000 series allison from a medium duty platform truck or schoolbus in a factory configuration. it is an SAE bellhousing. a 2000 series ally is the exact same dimensions as a 1000 series you get behind a duramax.

but you can also get an allison behind an N14/ISX too ;)

the triple nickle and 903s are crap engines too.

DeStroked makes a adapter plate to put an Allison 1000 behind a 12V,24V, or Common Rain. It's getting to be a more common swap. Rich guys buy a Ford and swap a Cummins and an Allison in it.
