Curious as to what gears?

My 83 Blazer came from the factory with a 6.2 liter diesel, 700R4. I am wondering what axle gears came with this engine. I have not removed the inspection plates, yet. I thought someone on here could help, befor I went that far.

For '83, I'm not 100% positive. In '85, diesels came with a 3.08 standard axle ratio (gas models had a 2.73).

Check the garage, was just posted what an '85(?) diesel would have had, and the name of the sight where the info was found.

Both my 83 frame's originally had 3.08's . Both were 305 trucks , but one was a sm465 , the other a 700r4 .

If your real curious , get the numbers off the ring gear .

I mean its an 83 , and the gear oil is seldom changed by previous owners , won't hurt to do it now

I dunno, but you need to swap in some 5.13s.

Dont know what gears you might have now. But im running 5.13 in 91 jimmy and the rpms are just about the same as stock with 37's. I think 5.13's would be perfect in yours.

Dollars to donuts it has either 3.42s or 3.73s.........
