whats your experience with cut out flares? thinkin about a set for tire clearence and to umm rid some rust haha

I think that they are ugly as sin. My current had them on it and it was a PITA welding up the 20 screw holes per panel after i trashed them. IMO trimmed wheel openings look much better and you dont have to spend the money to buy the flares, drill a thousand holes in your ride and then worry about ripping them off or cracking them after the fact.

I agree that I don't think flares look good.
Years back I decided to simply cut the rust out rather than do anything about it, basically following the shape of the fenders.
Before (4" lift and 33's, typical fender rot):
After (same 4" lift on 37's):

I have em on my front fenders, but i needed the flares to hide the tires some. So i bought cut outs and so far so good, i like the look without em but then i would get haggled by the cops here in pa. Here they like flares and mud flaps then they dont say a word.

Had them all the way around to cover up where i hacked the rust out, Pic is how she was b4, when i drove it every day as a beater truck. Actually miss it like this, it was normal..lol

Can I get a better side shot, My blazer looks alot like your and I've thought about doing this to clear 37's

I actually like the way cut-out fender flares look on 73-87 trucks and 73-91 Blazer/Suburbans.
Better? I did it with a cutoff wheel and its not perfect but I always felt it looked better than the rust.
