Here is what im thinking of doing. I want to cut a 20in by 39in hole in my Blazers cab roof. Then have a someone sew a canvas snap on cover. Kind of like a bikini top thats on a jeep. Will this work or would the hole weaken the cab roof to much?

Thanks for you input
Brett

Well, if you do cut it out, you can send me what you remove. I have a junk sunroof I would like to get rid of :D

it is a double panel, so you'd need to secure one to the other at the cut edge somehow... otherwise it'd be a vibrating mess...

if thats really the route you wanna go, i'd say get an actual sunroof that pops out... or the obvious, go full vert.....

I hope you're not concerned about water seeping in. Because you'll basically open up a sieve with that hole.

Otherwise, it shouldn't ruin the integrity of the cab, not that it's very stiff to begin with.

i see no reason to cut a hole in a perfectly good roof.
unbolting or unzipping the roof is another story

you would need a windshield frame from a 2nd gen.
this is only true if you care to install a hard top on it at some point. otherwise, you could potentially just cut the roof line and weld a cap onto the windshield frame and use a soft top permanently. :wink1:

My problem is I rolled her, and the top is trashed. Just thought this would be a cool way to fix the damage.

That's very true also. :D

If you rolled it, and the roof and b pillar are all screwed up, I say chop it all off. Leave the windshield frame, put a sweet cage in it, make a nice little weather cover for your domes, and have fun.

That sounds good to me. Its my DD for now so Ive got to watch the weather. But in time I would like to cut the doors as well.
