Anyone have any trouble installing the caliper into the bracket on a dana 60? I just tried to install mine before dark, and there is no room between the bottom slider and caliper for the spacer and spring. I'm at the point of using an Estwing and wood block but stopped before a temper tantrum ensued. I can't tell if I did something wrong or if it meeds clearancing or something. Maybe wrong calipers?:(

They are definitely a tight fit, some much more than others...Check for burrs on the wedge area of the caliper. Might be a good idea to draw file that machined area.

there is diffrent wedges to take up slack. you might have a thicker wedge. the biggest will take up .250 " of wear.

take a pic and post.

I've been looking at pics on the Boyce site, and I may have been doing it wrong. I've been trying to use the "H" shaped spacer to sit over the slider area on the caliper and bracket instead of puting in between both parts. That may have pushed the caliper closer to the outside of the rotor, thus closing the gap between the two surfaces and not leaving enough room f0r the spacer and spring. My explaination is probably hard to understand, but I think I know what I'm thinking. It got dark out and my jack was sinking into my mud and gravel drive way. Lots of melted snow and rain in the last week. Thanks for your help, I may still need to grind the surfaces to make room though. Searching other threads has helped alittle too. Tomorrow I will try again and if I have no success, I will get some pics for a little better explaination.

Thanks again you guys!:waytogo:

I'm kinda thinking I put the caliper in the top opening of the "H" and the bracket in the lower opening of the "H", instead of the whole "H" between the caliper and bracket. I don't know how else to explain it, but your first suggestion of pics and post is probably my best bet of not sounding like and idiot, though I may actually be one. Again, I will blame that on 6 concussions, my mom smokinjg and drinking during pregnancy, and alot of Polish blood!

next time i have a 1ton apart i need to take step by step pics. seems every few months i could use them.

figure my 4 dana 60's 1 could be close and apart to take pics not. :doah:

GOT IT! Kinda figured I effed it up. Got the calipers in place, but in doing so, I dropped the driver side caliper and now my new Earl's extended brake line is kinked and leaking at the caliper fitting:mad::(. Oh well, that's how things go for me these days. Hope my neurosurgeon doesn't have a day like that with my neck on the 9th:eek1:.

Here's a before and after pic of my oops installing the caliper.
