I was wondering what is the most common spline number on a Dana 44 in a 81 3/4 ton Chevy truck???
i think all dana 44s in chevys were 30 spline inner axles.fords and jeeps had 19 spline.im not sure about the outer shaft.
1981 would be a 10 bolt and not a D44 axle. In 1981 the axle would be a 28 spline inner.
actually ive heard of trucks having dana 44's in them into the 80's.someone said they used them in 3/4 tons into the mid 80's.maybe im wrong but i know i heard it on this site.either way a dana 44 could have been swapped in very easily if the truck originally came with a 10 bolt.off roader81 make sure you have a dana 44 and then repost.a 10 bolt will be circular in shape a dana 44 will be oblonged to one side.
I know its a Dana 44...
then its 30 spline at the diff and 19 spline at the hub.
