want to do this swap what year truck do i look for the rear end and front end
how do i determine if it is a 14 ff what do i want to stay away from thanks for input

14 bolt full floaters have a flanged axle shaft so if you look at the hub there are several bolts holding a flange in.

Just google image 14b full floater. LOTS of info about how to identify them.

As far as year, the most desirable axles are from a military pickup CUCV, they have 4.56s and a rear detroit stock.

Other than that the early Dana 60s were neck down shafts, later ones weren't not sure of the year change early 80s I think.

There are several different widths of 14 bolt including a cab and chassis dually model that is narrow, and a van one that is the same width as the front axle.

If you want a straight bolt in swap you are going to need a 14 bolt from a 3/4 ton truck as the one tons had narrower perches on the back.

You will also need a conversion u joint for the rear axle, a search on here will bring up a part number more than likely. Front end the only thing I have ever had to do is drill out the holes in the brake lines for the bigger banjo bolt of the 60 everything else is pretty much the same.

The only other thing you might not know is 15" rims will not fit without some decent grinding.

So, I am looking at a 3/4" ton '91 Burb with my guess a 44 and 14 bolt. I have not seen it yet in person - going this weekend. It would be going into a '84 K5. I am getting the complete trans, t-case, and axles with brakes, etc for $750. Good deal?

Are you sure it's a 3/4 ton 91 burb?
If it is, it should be 4l80e/241/ 10bolt front, 14bff rear and yeah the $750 would be a great deal.
Unless someone at some point changed the running gear in it.

Could easily be a Semi Float 14 bolt rear. My 91 came with an 14SF.

Yes, definitely 3/4

I wouldn't say "great" deal. It's still a 10 bolt up front. It's still a WHOLE Burban he may not need then needs to get rid of. The PSD 241 with VSS is cool, but not that uncommon. And who's to say the 4l80 doesn't need a rebuild? I wouldnt pay that much. I don't know how much things go for there, but I paid 800$ for a rolling frame. Dana 60 and 14bff. 4.56's.

I break it down into this:
50$ for read end
50$ for front end.
50$ for t-case.
250$??? For trans.
So 350$ for the rest?
I wouldn't pay 20$ for the front end and maybe 20 for the rear if it had lower, numerically higher, gears then 4.10's. My .2 cents.

Unfortunately, he's not getting the whole burb, just the running gear, or it would have been an amazing price because he could make more money of the rest of the truck.
As for the parts he would be getting, add them up, even at min ridiculously low prices for cores $750 is still a good deal.
a 4l802 core would go for $300, add $100 per axle and $150 for the tcase and you are at $650 and the adapter is worth $50 some pay more, so you're at $700.
As for deals, I paid $750 for a complete running 1 ton truck. :)
