I found a wrecked Dodge. Didn't have much time to make a ID on the front axle. It's overly caked with oil and dirt. Whats the easiest way to ID to if it's a Dana 60 or 44? /forums/images/graemlins/1zhelp.gif /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

Take a look at the steering arm on mounted on the top of the driver side knuckle -

D44 = 3 studs in a row holding the steering arm to the knuckle.

D60 = 4 studs in a square pattern holding the steering arm to the knuckle.

it will also only have 3 u bolts, the housing has 2 studs to hold on a side of the spring plate

also, it will have a kingpin cap with a grease zerk on top of the knuckle instead of a castle nut.

Dodge front HD D44 Unit Bearing axles have the same setup as well. So it is always wise to check the steering knuckle or look for the 60F on the center diff if possible.
