I've never done it but maybe two discs made out of steel with a hole cut in each for a piece of all thread to pass through. One disc goes behind the seal and the other goes against the hub. Then tighten a nut inside the housing to draw it in place.

I installed two of the new style seals (in the your first link ) with about $10 of Home Hardware parts:

One long threaded rod....two nuts for rod.....four steel washers (two for each end).
Sorry, I don't recall the sizes. I just took one seal with me to the hardware store and picked the size washer that would work.

Also, on the Kingpin end of the axle tube, I MAY have used a 12" or so piece of wood board (2x4?) with a hole drilled for the threaded rod. That acted as the anchor so that I could tighten the nut on the Kingpin end, and pull the inner diff seal into the axle tube. It worked surprisingly well and went in easy. Like real easy, it was one of those rare unusual jobs with no issues.

Basically a diy version of this tool:

That was 5yrs ago, and no leaks, so it must have worked properly. :woot:

I've been told you can tap them in :dunno: but I'll use the homemade spreader if needed.

I'll be doing mine in the next couple of days, tore it all down yesterday and I'll be using the 36487 seal.

I've always just tapped em in, can be a pita but it usually works :thumb:

I did inner axle seals on a f250 last fall. They are a good looking seal vs the old style ones IMO
