~Decked out?~ *Show Blazers?*

i don't really get taking a 4x4 blazer, lifting it, and then putting tire/wheel combos that wouldn't last 10 seconds offroad. but, i have seen several 2wd blazers, lowered a few inches, everything underhood chrome or body color, shaved door handles, delorean-style and lambo-style doors, serious stereo systems, etc. even though i would never go that route, i can respect the work that went into it, if it's done well and tastefully. but, most i see are like mine. not beautiful, but it's because we use them how they were meant to be used.

I could never build a show truck , to much work..shine this , paint that. Where's the pay off ? Now build a truck thats works , every time you hit the trail or the rocks there's the pay off!!!!!

my truck is show truck quality and has gone everywhere ive taken it. theres a different between form and function. all mine needs is biggers tires and more gearing and it will be a badass. will i tear it up? no its my DD but it will get some tube bumpers and sliders im gonna make as well as a cage later on.
just because its nice doesnt mean it cant kick ass offroad

ummmm well i can agree with ya to a point with the clean looking rig, i love to keep mine looking good, but i also have one to wheel with, and when people ask me why my trucks so purdy, i tell them not to many classics out, so ya gotta have one that represents the year and what they looked like before rust dents and other crap took over. as for the 2wd, better start looking for 82 and older because that was the last year. and why 2wd? a truck was ment for 4wd (expecialy a k5) if ya wanted one of those 2wd slamed 24 inch rimed, 40 speaker wasted of money, go to cali, and throw a rock. you will hit about 20 of them. my opinion, this is a site for lifted wheelers, and if you want to see a truck with 20 inch wheels or bigger without a tire twice its size, than this is not the site for you. it might not say 4 wheelers only, but notice all the rigs of the month, are trail rigs, not trailer queens scraping the ground.

If you read my post I said I do not like "slammed 24 inch rimmed, 40 speaker wasted of money". I simply said to build what you like and post the pics of it. Let those who like it congratulate you and those who do not harass you. On the idea of this being an offroad vehicle site only I would not agree. We have threads geared towards towing which is not wheeling. Why not have a thread for those with on road custom K5's. Or maybe the site should be changed to offroading only and save the cofunsion. I personally love this site for the diversity that is here. As for a truck being meant for 4-wheel drive that is opinion. Personally adding 4WD to some vehicles hinders its purpose more than it helps. Correct me if I am wrong here but carring the extra weight of 4WD would mean I could not tow/hual as much in my truck which is used for towing. Just my .02 cents (combined with my last .02 cents that makes 4 cents for me LOL).

most of the 'extra' mass really has no bearing on its ability to carry a load any less or any better than a 2wd vehicle. look at GVWRs on 2wd and 4x4 K5s, they're probably not much different if any at all.

seriously, if you're towing with a K5, you've got more to worry about than its ability to actually pull the weight. stability is a huge issue with a K5, and its short wheelbase does not lend itself well to that application.

well actually with 4-wheel drive you can engage the transfer case at low speeds without putting the truck into 4 wheel drive, and add a gear reduction to tow a heck of a lot more than what your motor and gearing are set up for (and before i get yelled at, only do this at low speed unless ya wanna blow your t-case apart) and as for the slammed 24 inch thing, ok maybe i jumped down your throat too soon, but when you said you wanted to see more 2wd blazers, i automatically assumed, you would slam it, because what other reason is there for a 2wd blazer? or any short wheel base 2wd. i will say if you have a long bed 2wd, yes that would be good, because you can still tow with it. but i just dont like seeing all the 4 door dually's that cost well over 45k and there slammed down and it takes the whole purpose of the vehicle away. do to make shure everyone is on the same page, this site is mostly pointed to trail-running/off roading capabilitys of a vehicle. with additions to towing, and all other subjects that this site offers.

Ever heard of a prerunner? Most of those are 2wd and I think a 2wd blazer would be a sweet candidate for that, I was thinking of doing that to my 2wd K-5 if I hadnt gotten my 89 and turned it into a trail rig.

And as for the duallys being slammed and not able to tow anything. Most of those are slammed using airbags, so you can raise it up and still tow good, if not better than before.

Ok Buffblazer I think we are on the same page now. I agree anything lowered without specfic purpose is ridiculous. I should stay out of these "heated"debates until my noob status wears off, Huh?

Im a fan of the 2wd blazer lowered a bit. They look pretty clean. Thats why I like the blazer. Its body lines are versatile and look great however you do it.... Except for 24's with low pro's on a 4x4... Thats a wee bit absurd. Post em up, lots of nice blazers out there!
