i'm in the process of replacing a head gasket on my 84 bmw 528...it has an aluminum head and a cast iron block with 105,000 miles on the car..
it makes sense to me to go ahead and get the head decked now while its off since the aluminum will warp at a much faster rate than the block.

I've had several people tell me its a good choice, and several say its unnecessary, the reason the head gasket leaked was due to the faulty seal on the gasket, bmw actually revamped the gasket in 86 to correct this problem and i can use the new gasket on my engine..

it sure would save a lot of time and cash if i didnt deck it, but on the other hand i dont want to pull the head again in 20k miles with a gasket leak...

any suggestions as to whether or not to deck it?
