congrats to the UAW on another "victory".
We're not closed, we're just restructuring.
Delphi is just the first. The whole automotive industry will follow suit eventually and Michigan will change. This was the last industry with such inflated pay scales. The smart UAW members saw this coming from a long time ago and started working on a plan B. The sad thing is that the change had to happen so suddenly. Hard on the guys who are close to retirement.
A couple of comments on the UAW press releases:
First of all, about the increase in severance package for Delphi executives, what is the big deal? Those guys are not getting more money. It's not a bonus or anything. It just means that IF THEY GET FIRED, they get more pay than they would have before. It's not even related to the Chapter 11.
Next, when we talk about being paid alot at the top, why isn't anybody talking about how much money the UAW leaders make?
