Won't argue about the rust, but before cfc, there were squares in the yards, they were rusty but you could get brackets, clips, drivetrain parts, interior stuff.I’d be willing to bet salt/rust destroyed more squares in your area than cash for clunkers did.
On my trip though southern Colorado and Utah last month I counted just over 50 squarebody trucks on the side of the road. We saw less than 5 were running down the road. I found 8 squarebody medium duty trucks sitting besides barns and ranches too.
After, none. Between cfc and steel recycling $ going up there are just no squares to be found.
Also now the peeps who have a rusty old rig that would've gone to the yard look at barret jackson and such and think they're junks worth $$$$
