Got a locker, want to put in 14bff. Does it mater if it's the 4.10 down or 4.56 up case? Will it fit either?

thanks

hmmm
I read it through
good info I will use to install it, it helps, I have never had a diff open before
but not sure if it answers my current question.

I have two carriers. The thin one is in the axle, the thick one is in garage. I'm not ready to put the thick one with 4.56s in yet. But, being a simple install, I'd like to throw my detroit in the smaller carrier for now while I work on the rest of the blazer. It looks like (thanks for the pictures btw) the only difference between the two carriers is the mounting thickness for the ring gear. So, does that mean the insides are the same? Which would mean the detroit should be happy in either carrier...:dunno::D

the detroit will drop into both carriers.

Really? I thought for sure that when I bought my Detroit it asked which carrier I had. I didn't think it was interchangeable?

did a quick check on Ebay, they sell the detroit and advertise "for all gear ratios"

just didn't want to trust EBay vendors for my info, would suck to do all the work and find out they are wrong

A 14 bolt Detroit will fit a 4.10 open carrier or a 4.56 open carrier, the side gears and spider gears the Detroit replaces are the same.
