Did I stab the dizzy right?

My 75 did about the same thing when the gasket between the carb and intake manifold went bad. I'm guessing vacuum leak. When it is running, take your hands or a rag and completely close off the air horn on the carb. Does it kill the engine? If it doesn't, start looking for a vacuum leak.

it kills the engine... I also sprayed some starting fluid all around the motor today and it didn't speed anything up.. so I've about narrowed vaccume leak out of the posibility
thanks,

ah, can't get the stupid videos to upload from the 3 1/2" floppy disk dinosaur camera... oh well... it runs like crap and I'm honestly about to the point of saying screw it and giving up. I will get ahold of a vaccume guage soon and try to see what kinda of vaccume numbers I am pulling, untill then I don't know what to do.. I'm at a loss... maybe the old q jet was messed up and this edelbrock is messed up and both were pouring way too much fuel into the motor, but I don't hardly beleive that... maybe both distributors were bad, although I know for a fact this one worked good, but that's hard to believe too.. oh well, I guess I'm just screwed... My sis is supposed to get a vac guage from her friend's dad today, we'll see what happens..

If you lived any where near me I would come over, and get the thing going for you. It is hard to give accurate advice from 2500 miles away. Good luck, and hang in there. I hope you get it going.

i thought the center of the #1 cylinder, anyhoo it would still run at that position, then youd just play with the dist a bit and find the timing with the gun...

got the plugs on right? 18436572

Still say you should try unplugging a few vac line and see if leaning it out that way helps :) Find out if it is the carb that way, thats for sure!

i bet yu its the carb or the gasket or the adapter if so equipped, ive put them on wrong before and it makes it not run too well

ive put the base gasket on backwards a few times before too not paying attention,

check all that on yours to be sure

if its all good then i dunno man, hard to say without being there, maybe try a Q jet or something else good

good luck
