Looking to replace my stock 10 bolt but want to keep the ralleys. Anyone have one?
Do a search at http://www.mypartshop.com
Applicable years are 88-98 C/K series trucks or 96-up Savana/Express. Can be a 1500 4x4 with 14-bolt cover, 2500 2wd with 6-lug wheels (narrow track), or 2500 4x4 with 6-lug wheels (wider track).
3.42 and 3.72 are the most common ratios.
Spring perches do need to be changed to fit the 88-older trucks.
The simple answer to your question is YES, and the key word to your axle search is SEMI FLOATER. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
ok cool, i didn't realize all semi floaters were 6 lug.
theyre not i got a 14SF 8-lug. Course its an older truck be wary of that, not all SF's are 6 lug. 88-98 light duty 3/4 tons got em, some vans too i think but not sure exactly which
All the 5 and 6 lugs are SF's from the factory.
There are aftermarket kits to convert them to FF, but they are pricey.
The 14 bolt SF is available in 5, 6 and 8 lugs. The 5 lugs is the 454SS truck rearend.
The 6 lug shafts will swap into the older 8 lug axles, correct?
Yes, they will, but there are 2 different lengths of the 6 lug shafts.
Separate names with a comma.
