Dmax in a 72 blazer

Dude, that truck is awesome, I love the gauge cluster.

I have a 67 Chevelle, and was once thinking about "what would it be like to have a twin turbo Dmax in here" I threw that idea out because it would kinda be like blasphemy to do it. lol

It would be different though!

Yea you know I feell the dmax is just to heavy for a car. and Why when you can have a little LSX twin turbo engine half the weight crankin out a hormonius 1000 rwhp:D

Check out the the hot rod mags.

There is a guy running around with a '70 Chevelle running a built twin turbo dmax.

they dont belong in cars

Ive seen them all the imp the chevelle the camaro the buick grand national the 2wd pickup from sema that was the ****tyest work Ive ever seen
the power a dmax makes is no joke. neither is the abillity to turn or stop with half the weight on the front of your car. thats why the twin turbo LSX is a better platform. hell take a STOCK 6.0 and put a weezer on it for 1k hp. its just a better way to go IMO dmax goes in HEAVY ****:D

Ya, but the guy with a chevelle said he was getting 20 mpg and it was nice to drive in traffic.

I'm sure the stopping and turning is just not that fun.

Im just gonna go ahead and ruin for you now. It wont get mid 20s its to flat in the front. should get near 20 though :D

When I was thinking of the diesel thing in the chevelle, I didn't know about the 70 chevelle with one in it though. I saw that build online later, it was really trick, but cost the guy a small fortune.

Yeah, and your right any LS series motor would be the way to go.

I just wish I wasn't so ignorant when it comes to modern fuel injected motors.

A "small fortune" is relative:eek1:.... That thing must have been some big bucks.

Not sayin it should or shouldn't be done just pointing out some cool stuff:D.

Update Link to My Twin turbos

Now Ive installed my Suncoast V 6 speed tranny billet converter, Head studs and twin turbos. im in the garge right now doin this ****
I sold some other **** so i could get to work fitting my 89 ford Dana 60 front axle to. I need to sell the fresh 44 3/4 ton axle under it now for more coin. Still no income so doing what I can with **** I have at hand. Enjoy fellas

Link?

There was a D-max in a Fox Mustang in a recent issue of Hot Rod. 800hp and dominated it's (diesel) drag class.

OK, seriously! you need to do a writeup on how you made the cluster and some more pics. Even if you don't have it done yet it is freaking awesome just as it sits. P L E A S E!

Hmm explain the dash

Rufus Im honored that you like it. the problem with a writeup is it would take me an un talanted noob a lifetime. Im lucky I can spell my name. The dash is SOOOO complicated its not really feasable for most to duplicate. If only I had an education :o oh and a lot of money;) Its all done off the cuff no real plans just make it happen as I go.
The first part was the layout of the laser cut pannel and deciding what I was gonna keep from the 01 gmc diesel cluster, (that in it self is a Pain and needs redoing) Then I had to cut the rings from stainless exhaust pipe (the tach was cut and rewelded to size) then try to weld those rings to the thin stainless Fd it all up so its warpped to hell and I need another to start over. I ended up using epoxy to hold them. Next is to figure out how to remake the wheel(circuit board) I was going to hand draw all the new circuit board traces after I traced them alll out and made a list of what when to what. I found FreePBC.com to make the printed circuit board when Im ready. Im still making whats called a netlist for the PCB and Im not in the mood at this time =) I have all of the components listed and removed from the og PCB. Next I went on a needle craze and robbed a crapload of them from many differnt cars to get the right lengths ( they will be White not orange like the photo). I could reproduce it when Im done but they would be year specific and thats gonna req me to do the same thing all over again for each different cluster. Id have to say it would cost near 5k for this setup maybee a little less. after i make the PCB design I send it to a PCB company and they want like 400 for one board. the basic pannel (stainless cutout) cost a few hundred dollars for a prototype and took 6 months for them to finish (lazy aholes) Ixnay on Critical Laser in Orem Utah, as well they screwed up 5 of them with many issues I had to keep getting resolved. FFS I need to leard cad but Its sooo complicated ( I have solidworks ). Im doing my twin turbos and six speed allison swap. also working on funding a dana 60 front axle . BTW fellas I could use chev outters without rotors or ford hubs and ford locking hubs. Mine dissapeard somwhere nothing fancy just need to get her rolling. I can be Emailed at [email protected] for those =). the axle I have is an 89 F250 or 350 Im having cut to fit my Blazer so I can redrill for spindles out to use d60 chev stuf which I want to Leme know whu ya gotz:D

Madspeed, that was actually the info I was looking for to be honest with you. The bezel looked laser cut but was not sure. On the colors for back lighting are you using colored Mylar plastic in the back side of the bezel?

I do appreciate the info on the bezel even if they are missteps or things to avoid. There are no mistakes when doing these kinds of custom designs. Like Thomas Edison said...he knew a thousand ways to not make a light bulb :-)

As far as the PCB goes if it is single sided you can make it yourself or worst case I can etch it for you after you get the board file made up. I have the equipment to photo resist and etch PCBs and it is not hard to do at all. It might cost $40 in materials to do up a board. Way cheaper than $400. At those prices you can afford to make some mistakes.

Then you just need a dremel to drill out your component locations (unless you are running surface mount). It does not have a solder mask or component silk screening like the pro boards have but for one off applications like yours it will work great. Let me know if you have any questions I will try to help.

Cheers,

Rufus

Light filters are actually plastic folders from office depot and very fragile the crack real easy. I have made PCB's before when i was 18 I fixed Dennon car sterio myself and had to make a small PCB for it. My father made the first Fuel injection for a v8 chev on THIS exact blazer. It was a Porsche 4 cyl ECM that him and another guy colabrated and made a drivere to run 4 more injectors it was so crude it didnt like the lumpy cam, You could either tune itr to idle fair and run out of Fuel on the top or vise versa. I was 12 in 81 I had told him to make a set fuel curve at and just of idle that rand untill you opened a micro switch. But he never finished it and moved on to other things. To bad caues he did it first in the aftermarket world.
Anyways I made a neg of the repaired PCB for the radio and he had Photo etch to I was gonna buy a kit and make a neg and try one myself. Im not really looking forward to all the drilling :D Do you know where I could get a decent price on sone single sided copper clad board? I think its 18"X8
