Driveshaft spline repair?

My front driveshaft splines are sloppy, but the rest of the components are in good shape (ujts, cv). A local truck place said they can respline the driveshaft. I didn't get much info about what they do. Is this a good way to bring new life to a driveshaft? Thanks.

they cut the splines out and weld in a new splined part in. its just like building a new shaft, but not.

They replace both male and female splined sections i.e. cut your old ones off and weld on new ones
