Any brand preferences for replacement u-joints for both the front and rear driveshafts? Don't want to go with cheap AutoZone ones and have them explode the first time I hit dirt, and the only brand I know of off-hand is Moog.

Preferences/opinions/thoughts?

yes the cheep pdq junk at az sucks. but the brutefore dont thay are solid cross with synthetic lube and good joints. but if prem is the name of the game spicer is good.

Spicers if you can find them, then Autozone's BruteForce line if you can't. I have run a few Bruteforce ujoints with good results. Currently they are in my Rear driveshaft (1350) and front pinion (1310) and have been there for several years with no problems. I prefer Spicer's but will settle for Bruteforce if I have too.

i concur

Probably just go with the Spicers...have to order them online but that's fine with me.

Just to make sure, 5-153x for the d-shaft/front axle, and 5-3147x for the front shaft CV joints and both rear driveshaft joints?

What is your drivetrain spec? I see it is an 87 which means 700R4/208 or 465/208. If you have a 465 your rear driveshaft will have 1350 size ujoints not the S44 size ujoints that the 700R4 has.

It's actually a TH350/208; the 700r4 puked and the previous owner swapped the 350 in. As far as I know, it's got the stock rear driveshaft.

If there used to be a 700R4 in the truck then it is probably the S44 size ujoints not the 1350 size. I don't know the sizes offhand but you could verify the ujoints by measuring the cap size and cross size.

you might tear apart the c/v head first to find out if you need a rebuild kit or other parts. most of the time you need min of rebuild kit when doing c/v heads.

i preffer the AAM style joints, they have a better seal than the spicers and they are solid core joints.
