Hey guys. My K5 is killing me with the gremlins. It sits for months at a time while I'm overseas working. My girlfriend just informed me that when she attempted to change flat due to extreme cold, the Battery was dead. No juice=no opening the tailgate to get to the spare. OK...back to the battery. It's a brand new red top bought in October. The K5 is an 87 with a new carbureted 350. I'm looking to install a cutoff switch which would seem pretty simple, but I do have plans on putting a winch on in the future. I was wondering if any of you have put a dual batt system with a cutoff. I found this switch but was wondering how to install it and what items you guys think would go best with what I'm looking to do.

If it sits for months, the battery might go dead with no load on it at all. My truck will go dead in about a month from the radio and computer.

Since I like my presets and the computer remembers how to run, I am going to go with something like that link come summer when it sits a lot.

I just sent an email to 12volt guy asking if he could put together a dual batt setup with master disco and switch for a winch. Let's see what he comes back with. In the mean time, I'm still trying to find out what I would need to throw it together myself. A battery tender would be feasible if not for the distance from the house to the blazer.
