Dual exhaust kits?

Unless local shops won't work on your rig for emissions issues or you need something really weird, I usually recommend having a shop custom bend it. Usually you spend as much on parts as the shop charges you out the door, but it's done in a couple of hours with all welded joints instead of you spending hours on your back and then chasing leaks for the next 2 months. You may still decide to DIY, but you have to at least shop it first. Most towns have at least some shop that will still hang pipe on old trucks.

Sometimes their price on cats/mufflers is high and they might not stock exactly what you need, so it's good to bring your own and let them worry about pipe, hangers and gaskets.

Having a shop do it is the way to go. When I got my custom setup done I actually managed to find a shop that was excited/wanted to do it. There are still some people out that are in to performance/custom work and a challenge just gotta find them. I ended up with a far superior system to anything you could buy and piece together yourself.

I once had duals installed on my truck for $200, which included the mufflers and a crossover pipe (but I think somebody estimated that job out wrong). The most I payed was $250, which was a nice full 2.5" system with crossover but I brought mufflers. The best part is that they quote it up front and all siezed/broken bolts and places impossible to weld in are all their problems.

I got a set of 2.5 duals for my Suburban from Autoanything about 5 years ago. It was 300 bucks, included stock type mufflers, straights out the rear, and fit right up to my manifolds with no hassle. I couldn't believe how well it went on. I believe it was 'Heartbeat' or something like that.

I did a dual system for my K5 with mandrel bent 2.5" tubing. Used one of the universal kits from Summit. Took my time and laid out each piece. tacked it to the next, pulled it down and finish welded. No leaks and it fits exactly how I want. I won't pay to have another exhaust done on a vehicle again. I've got some pics in my K5 build thread...can get more if needed.
